Tenn. St. knocks off unbeaten Murray St.

Robert Covington had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Tennessee State to a 72-68 victory over No. 9 Murray State, handing the last unbeaten team in Division I its first loss of the season.

MURRAY, Ky. — Robert Covington had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Tennessee State to a 72-68 victory over No. 9 Murray State, handing the last unbeaten team in Division I its first loss of the season.

"We had an amazing run, 23 wins in a row," Racers coach Steve Prohm said. "I'm sure we set a lot of records along the way, but now we've got to be totally locked in on winning a conference championship."

Isaiah Canaan had 31 points and six rebounds for Murray State (23-1, 11-1 Ohio Valley Conference).

Murray State had won the last eight meetings against Tennessee State (16-10, 9-4) dating to 2008-09.

Chelsea Gray scored 10 of Duke's last 12 points as the Blue Devils (20-3, 11-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) avoided a shocking upset against Boston College. BC (5-19, 0-11) closed to 61-60 before Gray took over.

Kim Parker had 16 points and Brigham Young scored 20 straight in the second half to hand the Bulldogs their worst conference loss in a decade.

Jennifer Hamson added 14 points for the Cougars (22-4, 10-2 West Coast).

Kayla Standish scored 12 points to lead Gonzaga (21-4, 10-2) but missed her first 10 shots. Gonzaga shot 22 percent from the floor.
