It's been quite an interesting few days for Gregory King, Capitol Hill's Lowell Elementary and Tacoma's Bryant Montessori School.

On Friday, Seattle and Tacoma officials made clear that everything is back the way it was a week ago: King is Lowell's principal and Bryant is searching for a leader.

Seattle Public Schools spokeswoman Lesley Rogers said King will remain in his job at Lowell despite his announcement on Tuesday that he was leaving to take the principal position at Bryant.

Tacoma officials pulled that job offer Thursday night after discovering that Seattle officials have hired a special investigator to look into personnel conflicts at Lowell.

Seattle Public Schools officials apparently had not disclosed the investigation's existence to Tacoma's acting superintendent, Carla Santorno, who used to serve as Seattle's chief academic officer.

The Seattle Times first reported on the investigation Wednesday.

The results of the special investigation are to be released in the next two weeks, Rogers said. It is being conducted by Cristin Kent, a Seattle attorney who also conducted the district's investigation into misspending and cronyism in its small-business minority-contracting program.

Rogers declined to comment further on the situation at Lowell. King did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment.
