Dancers and DJs mix it up at 'The Lowdown' at The Moore

Seattle's Amy O'Neal, Can Can Castaways and Circle of Fire/Soulshifters move to the sounds of PotatoFinger and WD4D in "The Lowdown."

Hip-hop meets modern dance in "The Lowdown: An Unexpected Night of Seattle Dance Performance."

The evening, billed as "more like a rock concert" than a conventional dance presentation, is headlined by choreographer Amy O'Neal. She'll premiere a new work, "Again, No Excuses," with her latest "creative entity," AmyO/tiny-

rage (pictured). Described as a rumination on "ideas of the modern warrior," the piece is set to a score by Seattle DJ PotatoFinger (aka Eli Hetrick).

The Can Can Castaways and Circle of Fire/Soulshifters open the program. An after-dance party follows the performance, with sounds by PotatoFinger and WD4D (aka Waylon Dungan — you can't be a DJ, it seems, without an offbeat moniker).

8 p.m. Friday, Moore Theatre, 1932 Second Ave., Seattle; $24 (call 877-784-4849 or go to www.STGpresents.org for tickets).
