'Limited States'
Silvery video figures contrast with vulnerable humans in the flesh in Shen Wei Dance Arts' "Limited States," a dreamlike production coming to Meany Hall this weekend.
Choreographer Shen Wei is interested in body language: bare-skin inquiries between dancer and dancer that sometimes feel like something out of Eadweard Muybridge's stop-action photographic studies, while at other times resembling cryptic rites of the senses. Note: Shen Wei's experimental fare is not to be confused with the souped-up Chinese spectaculars staged by Shen Yun Performing Arts (coming to McCaw Hall Feb. 7-8).
"Limited States" will be performed 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Meany Hall, University of Washington, Seattle; $20-$42 (206-543-4880 or www.uwworldseries.org).
Note: The piece contains partial nudity.
