1911 Virgil Bogue's map of 1911 shows his grand municipal plan, including new parks and parkways, a classical civic center and an elaborate public-transit system with subways and elevated trains extending to the suburbs. Voters defeated Bogue's vision later that year, and virtually none of his dreams were fulfilled.
